The State of New Hampshire, Adjutant General’s Department has full time vacancies for State Fire Fighter Trainee/I.
STATE FIRE FIGHTER TRAINEE:To perform a variety of work activities associated with Fire Station, fire fighting, rescue, fire prevention and airfield crash/rescue operations as instructed and directed by supervisor.

STATE FIRE FIGHTER I:

To perform a variety of work activities associated with Fire Station, fire fighting, rescue, fire prevention and airfield crash/rescue operations.

STATE FIRE FIGHTER TRAINEE:
Inspects and maintains fire fighting vehicles, tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).Drives, operates and positions Fire Department vehicles following the instructions and under the direct supervision of his/her assigned Crew Chief. Assists with controlling and extinguishing aerospace vehicle fires under the direct supervision of his/her instructor. Receives instruction and performs overhaul and salvage operations, assists in airfield surveillance patrols, standbys, and fuel spill activities as directed by supervisor in accordance with Fire Department policies.

Assists in the evacuation of personnel from aircraft, buildings, or other vehicles; protecting exposures and the operation of tools and equipment following the instruction and direction of supervisor. Controls and extinguishes structural fires, loads hose, and makes hose load finishes as instructed and directed by supervisor.

Performs rescue or assist in the rescue of individuals from aircraft and buildings. Performs CPR and first aid as necessary.Performs Fire Alarm Center duties, fire station housekeeping and fire protection related projects.

STATE FIRE FIGHTER I:

Inspects and maintains fire fighting vehicles, tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Drives, operates and positions Fire Department vehicles used to control and extinguish aerospace vehicle fires. Performs overhaul and salvage operations, airfield surveillance patrols, standbys, and fuel spill activities in accordance with Fire Department policies.

Assists in the evacuation of personnel from aircraft, buildings, or other vehicles; protecting exposures and the operation of tools and equipment. Controls and extinguishes structural fires, loads hose, and makes hose load finishes as required.Assists in performing building inspections, pre-fire planning, the testing and maintaining of all building alarm systems, and wet and dry pipe sprinkler systems. Assists in the inspection and reservicing of all portable fire extinguishers used on this installation.

Performs rescue or assist in the rescue of individuals from aircraft and buildings. Performs CPR and first aid as necessary.

Performs Fire Alarm Center duties, fire station housekeeping and fire protection related projects.

STATE FIRE FIGHTER TRAINEE:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent.

Experience: No experience required.

License/Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and telephone number to remain employed. In addition, must obtain a valid US Air Force (USAF) license within six months of employment and maintain such licensure as a condition of employment. Must possess and maintain certifications in CPR and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B). Must also obtain and maintain a current NH Provider License as a condition of continuing employment. Must possess International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)/National Pro-board Certifications as Firefighter II and Hazmat Operations. Must obtain certifications outlined in the Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA), Department of Defense (DOD) and Air Force certification program, current and as amended, within two (2) years.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age by date of application.
2. Prior to application for employment, must pass a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) administered by a licensed agency. The CPAT is designed to measure ability to perform physically demanding tasks encountered in job performance. In addition to this initial examination, must remain in compliance with all medical requirements of the National fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500 program.
3. Must successfully participate in a structured interview measuring possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this class specification.
4. Must be eligible for and maintain valid National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI). Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a state police criminal records check.
5. Must satisfactorily complete specified in-service training programs.
6. Must maintain appearance appropriate to public contact duties involved in fire fighting work. Must possess the ability to wear protective clothing and life support equipment, climb ladders, move through smoke filled facilities and aircraft wearing self-contained breathing apparatus, and perform other job related duties requiring physical exertion. Must participate in daily physical fitness training when on duty.
7. The probationary period for State Fire Fighter Trainee is one year of satisfactory work performance.
8. Must comply with all requirements outlined in the Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA), current and as amended.

STATE FIRE FIGHTER I:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent.

Experience: One year of experience in Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) is required.

License/Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and telephone number to remain employed. In addition, must obtain a valid US Air Force (USAF) license within six months of employment and maintain such licensure as a condition of employment. Must possess and maintain certification in CPR and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B). Must also obtain and maintain a current NH Provider License as a condition of continuing employment. Must possess International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)/National Proboard Certifications as Fire Fighter II, Airport Fire Fighter, Driver/Operator Pumper/Airport Firefighter (ARFF), and Hazmat Operations. Must obtain certifications outlined in the Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA), Department of Defense (DOD) and Air Force certification program, current and as amended, within two 2 years.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
